Lifetime Achievement Award, 2006:
This award is presented in recognition of a lifetime of support to the University of Iowa as an athlete and an active member of the Letterman's Club and to the State of iowa as he served on the Board of many state and local organizations.
Austin served as Chairman of the Iowa Department of Transportation Commission, a member of the natural Heritage Foundation, and served as an advocate adn advisor for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Austin was the President of the Letterman's Club from 1990-91 and was instrumental in planning, implementation and vision for what eventually became the Iowa Hall of Fame facility.
